On hiatus while Kaiser works on Vhane Glorious

Troops section in progress!

Eagle Ordinary

Lets discuss this like uncivilized gentlemen.

Happy holidays fellas! Kaiser here with an awesome sketch from Nicolas Giacondino, one of my favorite illustrators! Seemed appropriate to post his awesome work this week since Holt finally gets to go nuts, and has finally received his own section in the Troops page. He looks angry, but really he's having a ball of a time.

But really, we've got a couple more pages coming shortly after the new year that'll complete this first chapter and then I'll be taking a couple week break while I build a page buffer back up. So that's another page on the 4th and the 11th and then a brief break until February the first.

We've got some fun stuff and sketches planned to fill the void, however, so I'm looking forward to it as well as posting the next couple pages. I think they'll be the crown jewels of our comic so far.

Something tells me commissar holt is quite the wound up package of commissarial rage and fury.

The satisfaction I've derived from seeing Brinton chumped is perhaps excessive and even a bit indecent.

@Amadius: (If Slaanesh shows up, it probably is. Otherwise, think you're good... and I may have the same problem either way.)

I like this commander. wastes no time in kicking the asses of arrogant pricks. well those ranked below him at the very least.

December 29th, 2015, 9:42 am

@Xylas_Incarnum: (Wonderful thing about the Commissariat, is that there aren't many who aren't ranked below them.

They technically occupy an entirely different ranking structure, and have the authority to do 'whatever is necessary' to insure the discipline and loyalty of their regiment. This includes killing officers and taking command if necessary. This includes killing GENERALS and taking command if necessary...

The only real restriction to their powers then, as far as legality is concerned, is justification to someone higher up in the Commissariat, for if they need to kill a colonel, general, or planetary governor, for example, and the Commissariat ultimately answers to the High Lords of Terra. And of course Inquisition trumps their authority.

However for the most part, yeah... the only one who can execute a Commissar or whoop one for overdoing it is another Commissar... ... Also, if this discussion on Commissar ranking and powers was uncalled for, my apologies. They're one of my favorite units... ever.)

@Allsmiles: Not uncalled for at all, very appreciated in fact! We love getting well thought out comments, and you summed up the Commissariat nicely.

December 30th, 2015, 3:03 pm

@Jonny Canuck: (Ah, thank you very much for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed the sum-up!)

December 29th, 2015, 12:28 am

Shouldn't that be "Whose men..." rather than "Who's men...?"

December 29th, 2015, 8:44 am

@fa/tg/uy: Fixed! Good catch.

December 29th, 2015, 3:36 am

I see why Talon looks up to Holt! He's one commissar I'd be alright with having in a battalion :D

December 29th, 2015, 9:38 am

@Sarukin: (We are in utter agreement. Thus far, he is exactly the sort of Commissar a Guard Regiment can respect.)

December 29th, 2015, 9:37 am

(Bingo. I agree completely with the Commissar, at least in the context of the 40K world. They were there to spend for the glory of the Imperium, the Lieutenant's casual usage for them when manpower is short, is unacceptable...

Also, Holt whooping a guy who can slice through a man's hand faster than he can pull a trigger, as seen a bit back if I can recall correctly, is absolutely and completely bad-A.

Ah, and one last thing, I'm not always good about replying, especially when reply-chains get a bit long and I'm no longer sure who to reply to, however I am rather appreciative and do read when someone replies and enjoy the discussions.)

damn, I love Holt! and it was the kind of blow to the nuts that Steven Seagal is known for. any hit that knocks the guy off his feet is absolutely known to be good.

May 27th, 2016, 4:37 am

It is just me, or Holt is the only reasonable person in the story?

Well, I do approve of this treatmant very much.

This violence works on so many levels. Send a message that you just aren't taking this command thing seriously enough. Character development: I am a bad dude that you don't fear enough. Man this was satisfying.

In the span of two panels (#2 and #3), Commissar Holt went from being cool to being an absolute badass. The rest of this page just continued the trend until he was glorious.
